One of my biggest regrets is not learning to speak a second language. As the son of an officer in the Air Force, I have lived all over the world. By the time I was 12 I had stepped foot on all but 3 of the seven continent. Unfortunately, I was a kid and kids rarely understand the opportunities they are presented with. So instead of being bilingual, or even trilingual, I could only speak English. That was going to change. One day I decided that I would learn how to speak French.
Knowing myself and my lifestyle, I needed a program that would be flexible. A class that requires me to be somewhere at a certain time would not work for me. I'm far too busy. If you live a busy life, you know exactly what I mean. I really want to learn how to speak French, but I have other responsibilities as well.
I'm also extremely impatient. Notoriously so. I'm the type who needs to see results. The program I chose would have to be effective in helping me learn how to speak French quickly and efficiently. Being able to see the fruits of my labor would keep me motivated when the going got tough.
From my research, I choose Rocket French. It promised to teach me how to speak French online which works great for my schedule. So far it is going great! I don't have any background in French but I'm picking it up at a pretty nice pace.
I'm really enjoying learning how to speak French. I'm constantly on a path toward self improvement and learning a second language is well over due.
